Germany, American & Japanese Vehicles U.S Market Share

German automaker dominated the U.S market when they entered in 1970 on the back of Volkswagen up until 1980 when Japanese took over through Toyota. Toyota, Honda and Mazda dominated the U.S market from 1980 up to 1996 when Ford skyrocketed and helped American brands take over the U.S market. American vehicles market share reached it highest in 2004 when it topped 43% compared to Japanese at 19%.
